North Sea Rig Achieves New Milestone in Saturation Diving Operations 🚀
Aberdeen-based Well-Safe Solutions has reached a significant saturation diving milestone with its semi-submersible rig in the North Sea, completing 163 operations. This rig is the only one in the region capable of saturation dive spreads and is nearing the end of its decommissioning project.
Key Highlights:
⚫ The Well-Safe Guardian, formerly the Ocean Guardian purchased from Diamond Offshore in 2019, was converted into a specialized plug and abandonment (P&A) unit. It has been modernized and outfitted with state-of-the-art technology for well decommissioning.
⚫ The rig secured a 14-well decommissioning contract with Repsol Sinopec Resources UK for the Hannay and Buchan fields in September 2021. Additionally, Well-Safe Solutions was awarded another project by CNR International for up to 14 wells in the Banff and Kyle fields in the UK Central North Sea.
⚫ The rig is equipped with a D300 saturation dive system and Trendsetter Engineering’s Trident modular intervention technology, making it ideal for plugging and abandoning older or more delicate wells.
