23 August, 2024Uncategorized
OMV has struck gas in the deepwater wildcat well 6605/6-1 S in the Norwegian Sea, targeting the “Haydn/Monn” prospects. The well, drilled using the Transocean Norge rig, marks the first exploration in production licence 1194, located 65 km southwest of the Aasta Hansteen field.
Key Highlights:
⚫ Discovery Details: Preliminary estimates suggest 30 to 140 million barrels of oil equivalent (boe) in total recoverable gas volumes.
⚫Formation Insights: The primary Springar Formation may contain 4-12 million Sm³ of recoverable oil equivalent (o.e.), with additional discoveries in the Nise Formation.
The discovery could lead to a new gas field development linked to existing infrastructure, potentially extending the life of the Aasta Hansteen gas hub.
