Eni Mexico’s Groundbreaking Drilling Operations in the Gulf: A New Chapter in Shallow Water Exploration 🛢
Eni Mexico has received the green light from the National Hydrocarbons Commission (Comisión Nacional de Hidrocarburos) to commence drilling operations in the Sáasil-1EXP shallow water exploratory well.
Strategically located in the Gulf’s shallow waters off the Tabasco coast, within the geologically Cuenca Salina del Istmo province. This well follows the successful discovery in the Saasken-1EXP and Sayulita-1EXP wells within the same contractual area, targeting analogous geological objectives.
The technical blueprint for drilling Sáasil-1EXP is: ✅ Water depth and rotary table elevation: 275m / 25m. ✅Well Path: Directional “J” design. ✅Pressure and Temperature: 6,500 psi / 85°C. ✅Total programmed depth: 3,266 mdbmr / 3,221 mvbmr. ✅Drilling equipment: The Valaris Limited DPS-5 Semi-submersible Platform, boasting 6,000 HP. ✅BOP: 15,000 psi.
The financial commitment to this project is substantial, with the drilling and abandonment operations estimated at $62.84 million USD, and the evaluation phase at $15.20 million USD.
