Technip Energies Wins Key FEED Contract for Humber’s Viking CCS Project, Boosting UK’s Net Zero Goals
In a significant advancement for the UK’s environmental initiatives, Technip Energies has been awarded the Front-End Engineering Design (FEED) contract for the Viking CCS project.
Spearheaded by Harbour Energy and bp, this project in the Humber region, the UK’s industrial heartland, is pivotal for the country’s net zero emissions target by 2050.
The Viking CCS project, focusing on CO2 transportation and storage, aims to cut UK emissions by up to 15 million tonnes annually by 2035. Technip Energies will provide essential FEED services for the CO2 transportation system, including handling stations and pipeline infrastructure.
This project is not only a leap in environmental stewardship but also a boon for the local economy. It’s expected to preserve 20,000 jobs and create up to 10,000 more during construction, marking a significant step in large-scale CCS implementation in South Humber and North Lincolnshire.
With this development, Technip Energies and its partners are at the forefront of driving the UK towards a sustainable, net-zero future.
