BP eyes third-quarter output boost in US Gulf of Mexico

In the third quarter, bp anticipates increasing oil and gas production from its key U.S. Gulf of Mexico region to above 300,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day (boepd). The company foresees production to grow to more than 400,000 boepd by the mid-2020s.
BP operates four production platforms, Thunder Horse, Atlantis, Mad Dog, and Na Kika, in the deepwater in the Gulf of Mexico. A fifth platform, Argos, is expected to come on stream in 2022 as part of the second phase of Mad Dog.
In May, the operator announced the start-up of the Manuel project, a two-well subsea tie-back to Na Kika, located in Mississippi Canyon Block 520 in a water depth of 6625 feet.
The Thunder Horse South Expansion Phase 2 project in the U.S. Gulf of Mexico is being delivered this year.
The U.K. company looks to transition towards becoming an “integrated energy company”, with a pledge to boost annual spending on low-carbon energy tenfold to $5 billion by 2030.
