Mr. Pimentel’s extensive experience in the energy sector includes serving as Deputy Director of Hydrocarbons Regulation at the Energy Regulatory Commission and as General Director of Legal Affairs of this same regulatory body. He served as Chief of Staff of the Legal Counsel to the Federal Executive, as well as Deputy Counsel for Constitutional Studies and Inquiries for this government office, where he took part in the drafting of constitutional reforms concerning the energy sector, as well as in the writing of legal instruments included in secondary legislation regarding the hydrocarbons sector. At the federal level of public administration, Mr. Pimentel served in the Office of the Attorney General as advisor to the Deputy Attorney General for Legal and International Affairs; advisor to the Consul of Mexico in Houston, Texas, United States of America; in the Ministry of the Interior, as advisor to the Under Secretary of Legal Affairs and Human Rights; as well as Deputy Director of Constitutional Studies and Presidential Instruments at the Council for Constitutional Studies and Inquiries in the Office of Legal Counsel to the Federal Executive. After his candidacy was proposed by the President of Mexico, Mr. Pimentel was designated Commissioner of the National Hydrocarbons Commission by the Senate of the Republic, serving in this post until December 31, 2020. Mr. Pimentel holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Jurisprudence from the prestigious Escuela Libre de Derecho in Mexico.
