Gabriel Gomez is Country Manager for Mexico with a subsidiary of Murphy Oil Corporation and serves as the company’s principle country representative. His responsibilities include Government, Regulatory, and Partner Relations along with coordination of support functions for Murphy’s activities in country, as well as generation of new business opportunities in Mexico.
Previously, Mr. Gomez was Planning and Portfolio Manager for Exploration where he oversaw Murphy’s global exploration budget and advised executive management on strategy and portfolio. He joined Murphy in 2012 as part of the Business Development team.
Mr. Gomez started his Oil and Gas career as a wireline engineer with Schlumberger, later becoming a petroleum economist at Palantir Solutions (now Aucerna) where he consulted for various IOCs before moving into a commercial role with a UK independent focused in exploration in Africa. He has additional experience in other industries, including Government.
During his 25 years of experience, mostly in the Oil and Gas industry, Mr. Gomez has lived and worked in 10 countries in 4 continents. He holds a bachelor degree in electrical engineering from University of the Andes in Bogota, Colombia and an MBA from INSEAD in Singapore and France.
